Writing Project Topic Proposal

Through our WWII unit and reading Last Letters, I realized that I was really interested in learning about the lives of the hostages. Through discussions in class, I also noticed that I found so much joy in talking about the letters and reaching their voices to the world, as there are too many letters for a person to get to all of them. Yet despite everyone living in similar circumstances in the concentration camps, I find each letter to be unique in its way, as they were written from different perspectives, and from people who had different lives which developed their thoughts and personality demonstrated in the letters.

Another reason I want to write about WWII is because hostages were diverse. Some came from different countries, others were from different continents, and not merely German Jews. These differences distinguish every letter from the other, as the diversity allows for different perspectives based on how one’s identity shaped their interpretation of the similar life conditions everyone faced in the “internment” camps.
