For this extra credit assignment, I introduced resignation, apology, and complaint letters as a suggestion for new topics for the course. I found these topics substantial despite their attribution to the negative side of letter writing, as they can be used in daily life to avoid inconveniences.
Letter of Gratitude
For Thanksgiving, I wrote to my friend who lives abroad in Turkey. It has probably been a year since I’ve seen her and together gotten into an engaging conversation, so I believe that this letter is a great way to break the silence. In that letter, I attempted to fill her in on what has… Continue reading Letter of Gratitude
Week 13 – Presentations
This week in class, we presented on letter-writing topics, and I would say that my favorite topics were The Life of Vincent Van Gogh and Relationships. About the life of Vincent Van Gogh, it was not the first time that I heard about it. Not too long ago, while surfing the internet, I found a… Continue reading Week 13 – Presentations
Week 12 – Open Letters/ Juvenile Books
This week, we looked at two unique epistolary formats, open letters and children’s books. One targeted for adult audience and another for younger audience, and I hate to say that I was a fan of the children’s books. I find it facetious that I enjoyed reading the book The Day the Crayons Quit as if… Continue reading Week 12 – Open Letters/ Juvenile Books
Careers & Cover Letters
This past week was full of surprises, as I thought I knew what I wanted to pursue in the future until I took the career quiz. Creative Writing using the Epistolary Form
Dear Suzzy, I never got the chance to finish reading your favorite bedtime story before your parents picked you up when the summer ended. I know I had told you last Thursday that I flipped the last page of the Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbit and read it to you, but when that made… Continue reading Creative Writing using the Epistolary Form
Week 10 Writings – Long-read Project Brainstorming
For my final long-read project, I believe I would like to further explore presidential letters, as they allow us to view a different personality perspective of presidents. I find that oftentimes, presidents stick to a formal and professional personality appropriate for their role as a president, and feel the need to suppress the true person… Continue reading Week 10 Writings – Long-read Project Brainstorming
Week 9 Writing – “Can You Forgive Me” Movie Reflection
While this was not expressed in the movie, but rather in my own research on Lee Israel’s future life events, my favorite event about Lee Israel is her resolution where she redeemed herself by writing her own novel where she sought forgiveness for her prior actions. I was delighted to find out that her authentic… Continue reading Week 9 Writing – “Can You Forgive Me” Movie Reflection

Week 8 Writings – Letter from Abigail Adams to John Adams
Quotes: In her letter, Abigail Adams requests from her husband who is at war with the British for longer letters to somewhat match the effort she puts into her letters to him. She informs him about the news on her side and asks about his. She then ends the letter by requesting to endow females/wives… Continue reading Week 8 Writings – Letter from Abigail Adams to John Adams
