Week 10 Writings – Long-read Project Brainstorming

For my final long-read project, I believe I would like to further explore presidential letters, as they allow us to view a different personality perspective of presidents.

I find that oftentimes, presidents stick to a formal and professional personality appropriate for their role as a president, and feel the need to suppress the true person they are due to their position. In their letters to their loved ones, we are able to observe a different perspective, where they write to their beloved in the form of their true selves.

Reading these personal letters can sound familiar to the way we, the public, speak to one another, and they serve to remind us that no matter what hierarchical position we hold, we are still quite similar in the way our true selves feel and act.
